Waymo raises $16B to expand robotaxi operations internationally
Waymo has secured $16 billion in new funding to scale its autonomous ride-hailing fleet across more U.S. cities and enter major international markets such as London and Tokyo. The funding round, led by Dragoneer Investment Group, values the Alphabet-owned company at $126 billion. Waymo plans to use the capital to grow its fleet beyond the 2,500 vehicles currently operating across six U.S. cities, aiming to launch in at least 20 more by the end of 2026.
This is one of the largest ever investments in autonomous driving, signaling industry confidence in commercial robotaxi services.
