Singapore invests $786 million to become an AI powerhouse
Singapore will spend over S$1 billion (US$786 million) on artificial intelligence research and development over five years, aiming to reinforce its position as a leading AI hub. The investment will fund public sector AI projects, industry partnerships, and talent development. It also includes a focus on ensuring the trustworthy and responsible use of AI, building on the country’s existing National AI Strategy. Officials say Singapore must leverage its trusted brand to compete globally as the U.S. and China dominate AI scaling and deployment.
This signals a significant step in Southeast Asia’s growing role in the global AI race.
