A major Russian aviation company, Aeroflot, has reportedly suffered a complete takedown of its internal IT infrastructure after an extensive hacker operation. According to one of the largest Russian-language Telegram channels (9M+ subscribers), hackers spent over a year inside Aeroflot’s corporate network, stealing flight records and preparing for sabotage. Over 7,000 virtual machines and 20TB of data were allegedly destroyed, including sensitive files and backup copies. Damages could reach tens of millions of dollars. Meanwhile, Aeroflot is rerouting flights and using backup systems after what some call a “digital Chernobyl.”
