SEC Drops Lawsuit Against Gemini Crypto Exchange
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has withdrawn its lawsuit against Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. The lawsuit was originally filed over Gemini’s “Earn” program, which allowed customers to lend crypto assets in return for yield. The settlement, which included no admission of wrongdoing or financial penalty, signals a de-escalation in tensions between regulators and certain crypto players. Gemini said it is committed to ongoing dialogue with regulators.
This move could set a more collaborative tone between U.S. regulators and compliant crypto firms.
