TikTok US ownership deal finalized with Oracle-led consortium
After years of regulatory scrutiny, ByteDance has completed the sale of TikTok’s U.S. operations to a new joint venture called TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. The deal, finalized with approvals from both the U.S. and Chinese governments, reduces ByteDance’s ownership to 19.9%. The remaining 80.1% is held by Oracle, Silver Lake, Abu Dhabi’s MGX, and other investors, effectively aligning TikTok’s U.S. division with domestic oversight.
This marks a significant shift in ownership and governance, addressing longstanding national security concerns.
