Google hit with €572M antitrust fine by German court over price comparison practices
A German regional court has ordered Google to pay €572 million ($665.6 million) in damages for abusing its dominant market position in the online price comparison sector. The ruling comes after years of litigation from two German price comparison services, which accused Google of unfairly favoring its own shopping service in search results. The decision marks one of the largest competition-related fines against the tech giant in Europe. Google has not yet commented on whether it will appeal the verdict.
The ruling further reinforces regulatory pressure on Big Tech in Europe and may set a precedent for similar antitrust actions globally.
