Tensor claims world’s first autonomous vehicle for personal ownership
A new entrant, Tensor, unveiled what it calls the world’s first volume-produced, consumer-ready Level 4 autonomous vehicle, or “robocar,” designed for private ownership. The San Jose–based company is likely a US spinoff of Chinese AV firm AutoX. Tensor’s robocar is packed with over 100 sensors and will launch in the US, Europe, and Middle East starting in 2026. It positions itself as blending AI agent capabilities with autonomous driving, claiming to shift the market from robotaxis to individually owned AVs.
If Tensor delivers as promised, it could reshape the autonomous vehicle market by making personal ownership of driverless cars a reality.
