Security flaws let hacker remotely unlock vehicles via carmaker’s web portal
A major vulnerability in a global carmaker’s centralized dealer portal allowed a security researcher to gain remote access to customer accounts and vehicles. Researcher Eaton Zveare told TechCrunch he could unlock cars from anywhere, view detailed customer data, and control critical vehicle functions. The flaws stemmed from improper access controls and were reported to the carmaker, which has since patched them. However, the exposure raises serious concerns over the cybersecurity of connected vehicles.
As cars become more connected, robust digital security is essential to protect drivers and their data.
