SoftBank Buys Foxconn’s Ohio EV Plant to Power ‘Stargate’ AI Project
SoftBank has reportedly acquired Foxconn’s Ohio manufacturing facility, previously intended for electric vehicle production, to repurpose it for its ambitious ‘Stargate’ artificial intelligence project. The plant, originally known for housing production of the Chevy Cruze, had struggled to deliver on its EV manufacturing promises under Foxconn. Now under SoftBank, the facility will shift focus to building AI server hardware designed to support advanced AI model training and deployment.
This move signals SoftBank’s strategic pivot toward AI infrastructure, repurposing legacy manufacturing for next-gen compute needs.
