Tesla Shuts Down Dojo Supercomputer, Abandoning Key AI Initiative
Tesla has officially disbanded its Dojo supercomputer project, once touted as central to the company’s autonomous driving goals. The team behind Dojo has been dissolved, and its leader is departing, marking a significant shift in Tesla’s AI strategy. Around 20 former employees have already left to launch a new venture, DensityAI, focused on data center services. Dojo was originally developed to power Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) ambitions with custom AI chips and high-performance training capabilities.
This move signals a strategic retreat from in-house AI infrastructure, raising questions about Tesla’s long-term autonomy roadmap.
