Bitcoin Creator Satoshi Nakamoto’s Statue Stolen in Lugano
A bronze statue honoring the pseudonymous Bitcoin creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, was stolen this week from Parco Ciani in Lugano, Switzerland. The statue, part of “Plan ₿”, a city initiative with Tether to promote crypto adoption, had stood in the park since late 2024. Authorities have launched an investigation but no suspects have been named. The installation featured striped panels symbolizing Nakamoto’s fading anonymity, now replaced by empty ground.
The theft is a symbolic moment for the crypto community, highlighting both Bitcoin’s cultural impact and ongoing questions surrounding its mysterious founder.
