Epic Games Store set to launch on Google Play after antitrust win
Epic Games announced plans to bring its mobile store, including Fortnite, to the Google Play Store following a key court victory. A U.S. appeals court upheld a ruling that Google’s app and payments system constituted an illegal monopoly, opening the door for third-party app stores. While Google says it will appeal, the court has lifted a stay on the permanent injunction, allowing alternative app stores like Epic’s to list on Play.
This move could challenge the dominance of existing mobile ecosystems and increase competition and developer freedom on Android.
